ethanzohnEthan Zohn’s most famous feat to-date has been winner of “Survivor: Africa.” And he did it while remaining the same good guy that co-founded Grassroot Soccer (www.grassrootsoccer.org), a nonprofit organization that trains professional soccer players to teach African children, through a tailor-made curriculum, about HIV/AIDS prevention after playing pro soccer himself. Along with “Earthtripping,” his show about eco-friendly travel and adventure now showing on Halogen TV, Zohn also has hosted “The MSG Soccer Report” (Madison Square Garden Network) and “F.C. Fox” (Fox Soccer Channel), in addition to working as a sideline commentator and soccer analyst for MLS, MISL, and ESPN Radio.

Zohn’s latest challenge has been battling Stage 2 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma since spring of last year. Hodgkin’s lymphoma attacks the lymphatic system, which includes the tonsils, spleen, appendix, thymus gland, bone marrow and lymph nodes. The disease suppresses the body’s immune systems. Symptoms consist of swelling of the lymph nodes, recurring fever, night sweats, itchy skin and weight loss.

The reality TV star sat down with former “Bachelor” Dr. Travis Stork of “The Doctors” on Monday to discuss his treatment. Zohn, who lost his father to cancer when he was 14, underwent two unsuccessful rounds of chemotherapy before spending 21 days in isolation following a stem-cell transplant. He spoke of how the rigors of being a “Survivor” helped his mental and physical battle with cancer. His girlfriend and fellow “Survivor” winner Jenna Morasca also spoke with Stork about their fight against the disease that took her mother six years ago.
