TOMS Opens Mystery Box, Launches New Product

TOMS revealed a new product this week: sunglasses.
TOMS founder Blake Mycoskie said “vision seemed the obvious choice” when considering the next product for the “one for one” company. With every pair you purchase, TOMS will help give sight to a person in need.
The hand-painted stripes “tell a story” and symbolize the three elements of One for One. The first stripe on the temples represents you. The stripe on the tips represents the person you are helping give sight to. And the middle stripe is TOMS, bringing the two together.
Mycoskie announced earlier this year at SXSW that TOMS will no longer be a shoe company, but a “one for one company.” TOMS Eyewear is just the first step.
We’re providing exclusive coverage in the video above and the photos below from the Charlotte, N.C. event held at Revolution.
Businessman Ben Goldhirsh shared his thoughts pre-launch on GOOD.is:
- “I see more TOMS on the street than I do any other shoe brand, and that’s fantastic.”
- “To be sure, it will be hard to match the success of TOMS’ first product.”
- “Doing well by doing good is not a fad. And TOMS’ next product can prove that.”
The sunglasses are $135 and available for purchase at www.toms.com/eyewear.
What do you think of the new line of sunglasses?
