Three mothers of children born in Madula, Ethopia have come together to compete in the Toyota U.S. Open Triathlon on Sunday, Oct. 2. Known as the “Madula Mamas,” Meg O’Connor, Liz McGovern and Tanya Sturm will race as one team to raise money for The Madula Water Project, a partnership between adoptive families and the Children’s Home Society and Family Services to deliver clean water to the rural village and other surrounding areas.
O’Connor will tackle the six-mile run, McGovern will brave the one-mile swim and Sturm will undertake the 25-mile bike ride portion of the triathlon. To up the ante, the Janus Charity Challenge will dish out an additional $8,000 for the top fundraiser.
