Rock ‘n’ roll meets hunger with Jericho, N.Y.-based rock CAN roll, Inc., a hunger relief non-profit. However, it meets a staggering reality in that more than 35 million Americans are living with hunger. And more people, including those with jobs, are turning to emergency food agencies for assistance. Yet, these agencies are faced with dwindling resources.

The grassroots organization is battling this statistic by collaborating with rock concerts, schools, corporations and private individuals to collect healthy non-perishable food for local agencies. And, in turn, these fully stocked shelves allow the agencies to serve its starving communities.

Rock CAN Roll grew out of founder Aimée Holtzman’s love for rock ‘n’ roll music and compassion for people. She says her vision for Rock CAN Roll is that it becomes like recycling. When people see the Rock CAN Roll logo at rock concerts or on promotional materials, fans will know to bring non-perishable items to the event.

Volunteers, called rock CAN rollers, collect and deliver the donated items to local emergency food agencies (within a 5-10 mile radius of the venue).

The hunger relief effort always welcomes new collaborators, volunteers and supporters to help in this quest to beat hunger. Bret Michaels, Train, Gregg Allman and Maroon 5 are just a few artists who have recently teamed up with the organization. Visit the website to see how you can support the cause.
