Since President Obama announced his plans to take down the Lord’s Resistance Army leaders, 100 U.S. Special Forces troops have been deployed in Uganda. From there, troops will be scattered in areas where the LRA are operating, including the Democratic Republic of Congo and southern Sudan.
For more than 20 years, the Lord’s Resistance Army has committed horrific crimes as well as used child soldiers to commit mass atrocities.
As someone who’s lived through LRA’s terror, Sister Giovanna Calabria lent her voice to encourage the U.S. to “do something.” In the video (above), the Camboni nun spoke with Discover The Journey, a team of journalists and storytellers who expose the injustices and advocate for intervention. Sis. Giovanna shares what she’s witnessed – mutilation, abduction and death – and simply pleads, “please let the world know.”
