We’ve got the best of the Web today, including a 9/11 volunteer app, an alarm clock that charges you and a warrior campaign that recognizes everyday heroes.

American Express launches Facebook app for 9/11 volunteers

In honor of the upcoming 10-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, American Express launched the “I Will Volunteer” Facebook app, calling on its more than 2 million fans to support the 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance. The new app offers a user-friendly database of local volunteer opportunities. Once users have signed up to volunteer, they can share it with their friends on Facebook. Those interested can find volunteer opportunities from working in schools in New York’s Lower East Side, to tending to community gardens in Phoenix, to renovating an abandoned airport hanger into a community center in Los Angeles. Can This Alarm Clock Help You Be More Generous and Get to Work On Time?

Would you not hit the snooze button on your alarm clock if you knew it would cost you? A new iPhone app called Snooze “charges” you a quarter every time you hit the snooze button. At the end of the month, the app tells you how much money you’ve racked up, and allows you to donate that money to a selected charity. The Snooze app was developed by the creative minds at LetGive, a company testing different innovative ways to increase micro-actions to charity through mobile devices. Whether the Snooze app takes off or not, it’ll be interesting to see what this company comes up with next. (via @GOOD)

We Are All Warriors, Hear Us Roar

The filmmakers behind the movie “Warrior” is calling on social do-gooders across the country to tell them what they’re fighting for. Inspired by the Sept. 9 release of the Lionsgate film, the grassroots campaign “We Are All Warriors” recognizes everyday heroes. This could be an educator in your community, a best friend who gives his/her time as a volunteer or a nonprofit leader – they are all contenders. Participants can share their stories in a video, nominate another warrior and get support through Facebook or Twitter. Submissions will be featured on the project’s website, which will include stories from celebrities on what inspires them to take action. Each contestant has a chance at winning tickets to the Sept. 9 release of “Warrior” in your local theater. Video submissions will be accepted until midnight tonight, and a random drawing will determine the winner. (via @whatgives)
