Here are some groups poised to respond to the Japan earthquake. You can help by donating to these companies and nonprofits accepting donations.

Red Cross

The American Red Cross (@RedCross) is offering assistance to the Japanese Red Cross, which dispatched 62 response teams in the first 24 hours.

Text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 to Japan or donate here.

iTunes has set up a where users can donate between $2 and $200 toward the American Red Cross, and you can also donate on Facebook.


Salvation Army

The Salvation Army (@SalvationArmyUS) is on the ground helping with relief efforts in Japan. Donate here, call 1-800-SAL-ARMY or text JAPAN or QUAKE to 80888 to make a $10 donation.


World Vision

World Vision (@WorldVisionUSA) is mobilizing supplies and programs in response to the Japan earthquake and tsunami. Check www.worldvision.org for updates and donate here.

Also, SwipeGood (@swipegood) allows you to round up all of your debit or credit card purchases to the nearest dollar and donate the difference to the World Vision Disaster Aid Fund.


Convoy of Hope

Convoy of Hope (@ConvoyofHope) has a video here describing their response to the Japan earthquake and tsunami and how you can help. Donate here or text TSUNAMI to 50555 to donate $10.


Soles4Souls

Soles4Souls (@soles4souls) plans to provide as many as 100,000 pairs of shoes to Japan and the Pacific Rim. For every $1 they collect, they are able to provide another pair of shoes. Donate here.


Samaritan’s Purse

Samaritan’s Purse is on the ground in Japan and will be working with local churches to distribute food, water, blankets, hygiene supplies, and other aid. Donate here or text SP to 85944 to make a $10 donation.


Catholic Relief Services

Catholic Relief Service personnel throughout the Pacific are standing ready to assist those affected by the earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan early Friday morning. Donate here to Japan earthquake relief efforts.


Direct Relief International

Direct Relief International (@directrelief) promises that 100 percent of what is raised for Japan goes to Japan. Donate here or by phone: 1-800-676-1638 or 805-964-4767 or text GIVE10 to 20222 to send $10 to Japan earthquake and tsunami response.


Global Giving

Global Giving (@globalgiving) is providing emergency disaster relief for victims of the tsunami and quake. Donate here or text JAPAN to 50555 to give $10.


CARE

CARE (@CARE) works around the world to provide humanitarian relief. The staff in Asia is now working to provide relief throughout the regions affected by the Japan earthquake. Donate here.


Save the Children

Save the Children (@savethechildren) is getting some help from the company Brookstone, who will match all donations up to $50,000 for Japan earthquake relief throughout the month of March. Donate here or text JAPAN to 20222 to donate $10.

Also partnering with Save the Children is Zynga, known for its effective social good campaigns. Users can donate money through the purchase of virtual goods in CityVille, FrontierVille, FarmVille and its other games.


Explore.org

Explore.org (@exploreteam) will donate $1 for every “Like” of the “Dog Bless You dog philanthropy Facebook page, up to $100,000. You can learn more about Explore by watching “Explore Series” on Halogen TV.
