A new tribute album from glam rock star David Bowie features a remarkably varied pool of musicians. We Were so Turned On, a fundraising initiative for War Child, gives music aficionados a rewarding way to support the cause and celebrity philanthropists. The album is scheduled for release on Oct. 11 and features artists like Duran Duran, Carla Bruni and Megapuss. The albums track “Memory Of A Free Festival” by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros is out now and Warpaint’s ‘Ashes To Ashes’ will hit the airwaves Monday.

War Child International is a network of independent organizations that work together to help children whose lives are threatened daily as they grow up amongst the horrors of war.

War Child continues to use the enormous support it receives from the media, music and entertainment industries to raise, not only much needed funds, but also public awareness of the daily struggle for survival facing children in war zones.

The eclectic mix of musicians featured in the album is earning We Were So Turned On applause. Ethan Stanislawski of Prefix Magazine calls it “Bowie’s most prominent tribute album to date.”
