September is Hunger Action Month in the U.S. and numerous celebrities, government leaders, major corporations, and grassroots organizations are getting behind it.

Organized by Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity, Hunger Action Month is a multifaceted effort end hunger in the United States.

“Donations of food and funds from corporate America are at an all-time high,” explained Vicki Escarra, Feeding America’s CEO. “But more help is needed. We all need to continue our collective efforts to feed our neighbors – from grassroots activities in small cities – all the way up to the board rooms of Wall Street.”

Celebrities taking part in nationwide and community events include actor David Arquette, NFL legend Joe Montana, American Idol winner Lee DeWyze, singer-turned-actress Kat McPhee and NASCAR driver Kyle Busch. John Bell of the band Widespread Panic, the Food Network’s Ellie Krieger and chef Curtis Stone are also lending their support. You can see what they’re doing to help at HungerActionMonth.org.

Here are how some celebrities have participated in Feeding America events throughout the year:

How can you help? Feeding America suggests writing a letter to your elected officials about hunger, contacting your local food bank to ask how to organize a food drive or honoring your grandparents by giving a food bank donation on Grandparents Day (Sept. 12).
