Blog Action Day: Oct. 15, 2010

This Friday, Oct. 15 is Blog Action Day. Organized by Change.org, it’s an annual event that encourages bloggers around the world to write about the same topic on the same day in order to generate discussion and change.
This year it’s a topic near and dear to Halogen’s heart: clean water. We’ve been working to raise money for charity: water so Blog Action Day is a no-brainer. You can bet we’ll be blogging about clean water on Friday and we hope you will too.
Clean water seems simple enough, but nearly 1 billion people live without it. And 42,000 people die without it every week. That’s a dumb reason to die. In July the United Nations declared access to clean water and sanitation a basic human right. Analysts predict that water wars will define the 21st century as nations squabble over limited water resources. Water truly affects us all.
Clean water is easy to take for granted, but thankfully there’s also an easy way to do something about it. You can join thousands of other bloggers — including the White House blog and the Official Google Blog — and take part in the discussion. Write about human rights, gender issues, children, animals, the environment, energy, technology — water touches just about everything, so pick your passion and join the conversation.
