iPhone AppsFifty years from now, today’s current technological age will likely look as exciting as the Atari to present-day gamers. Of course, we have to continue to build on the momentum we currently have to make that happen. Here are 7 apps for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad that are striving to move us into the new technological era, one good deed at a time.

ONE

The first mass-market iPhone app designed exclusively for social activism. ONE is a nonpartisan grassroots organization co-founded by Bono, the lead singer of U2. ONE’s “get the facts, get connected and create change” mantra is inspired by the tragic effects of extreme global poverty. The ONE app aims to give knowledge and community support to ONE members who are striving for social change.

Touch To Give

A way to donate money to your causes without spending a penny. The Touch To Give app uses 100 percent of its sponsor ad revenue as donations to combat breast cancer, animal neglect and global hunger. Touching the breast cancer icon donates to breast cancer research; the animal rescue icon provides food, treats and medical care to shelter animals and the hunger icon donates seeds for sustainable farming projects. PayItForward

This do-good app by Mobileaze delivers simple and fun weekly random acts of kindness tasks to make the day of a stranger brighter. A task is marked “paid” after completion and becomes increasingly more involved with each accomplished task.

IJM

The International Justice Mission seeks justice for slavery, sexual exploitation and violent oppression crimes. The IJM app will keep you in synch with the issues you are most passionate about by providing updates from the field and a platform to reach the field team, as well as info on IJM community events and action steps.

This Is Green

Guiding you to an eco-friendly lifestyle one aisle at a time. This EcoAppsFree app is a great resource for consumers who are eager to leave the hazardous ingredients commonly found in everyday foods and household products behind. The app is map-based allowing you to touch and isolate the problem areas of your home and find practical solutions at any time.

My Recycle List

The GPS-based app takes the pain out of recycling by searching for nearby recycling locations that accept what you have. The app is in conjunction with 1-800-Recycling.com and supported by more than 120,000 national locations.

Sea Shepherd

Offers international breaking news from the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society as they confront poachers and protect marine wildlife and habitats on the high seas. The app highlights environmental activism including “Operation No Compromise,” soon to be featured on Animal Planet’s “Whale Wars.”
