Inspired by concept (including its American counterpart), we’ve come up with three other theoretical ideas for reality shows that might serve the global community in positive ways:
I’m a Volunteer… Get Me a Refugee Camp! A live event where everyday citizens rise to the challenge of global calamity, stepping away from the comforts of their own lives to reach out to those in need. It’s the ultimate “Rescue Mission” as 10 volunteers are dropped into the heart of a current world crisis to demonstrate just how much of a difference a helping hand can make. America can show its support, following the action and donating critical supplies or financial aid. In each episode, friendships will be forged, stories of survival will be shared and lives will be saved. (I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!)
Life Swap: Have you ever imagined what life would be like in another person’s shoes – a pauper’s shoes? Join us as two people turn their existence upside down when they literally switch lives. Each week an American will change places with a person struggling to survive the hardships of poverty. The two-month challenge will ultimately reveal whether there are riches to be found when surviving on much less and whether some of our world’s most promising individuals might ultimately be recognized for who they truly are when they are finally given the same advantages as that of a citizen of the Western world. It’s a mind-blowing experiment that can end up changing lives forever. (Wife Swap)
No Exploitations: She’s on a mission to find the most finely crafted, fair-trade delicacies and track them back to their source. Jane Doe wants to know which companies truly live up to the fair trade label. Whether it is from bar to bean (chocolate), brew to bean (coffee), brew to leaf (tea) or market to tree (produce), Doe will guide consumers to the products that reward hard work with a just return. Tune in to become a conscious consumer who feels confident in purchases that put food on the table both at home and abroad. (Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations)
