Becky Henderson is the Founder, General Manager and Visionary behind Halogen TV. She grew up as a citizen of the world, traveling the globe with her family on humanitarian missions. Profoundly motivated by her experiences, she resolved to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
After interning in every department of The Inspiration Networks, learning the cable television business from the ground up, Becky secured a position as an Assistant Producer of short-form content at Inspiration. A short time later she was promoted to Producer and she launched a show called “Everyday Woman,” where she served as Executive Producer and on-camera host. The show won three regional Emmys and soon expanded into Everyday Woman Magazine, where Becky also served as Co-Publisher.
Becky’s promotion inspired her to explore the role that media has played to shape society, both positively and negatively. Intent on using media as a force for good, she conducted a three year research project that revealed how best to creatively capture the attention of audiences, and empower them to make a difference. She focused her research on the underserved millennial audience, and saw an opportunity to introduce them to a new type of reality television programming. After presenting the Halogen TV brand to The Inspiration Networks Board of Directors, Becky received approval to launch the new multiplatform network, and was named Executive Vice President and General Manager in 2008. The process from first pitch to launch of the network took 18 months.
Halogen TV currently has more than 15 million subscribers, and engages a multi-generational audience through various platforms including online and video on demand. The network has built a library of more than 700 hours of acquired and original content that includes reality-based series, documentaries and films. Halogen programming not only highlights pop-culture and eco-friendly issues, but also sheds light on social injustices and inequalities, i.e., the war in Uganda, domestic sex trafficking and other global issues.
In early 2011, Becky received the coveted Multichannel News “40 under 40” distinction. In addition, she was chosen to take part in the prestigious “Rising Leader’s Program” of Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT), and is a current nominee for the WICT Carolinas Red Circle Award as a “Woman to Watch.” She is a member of the Cable Television Association for Marketing (CTAM), PromaxBDA, American Women in Media, and the National Cable and Telecommunications Association (NCTA).
Becky lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with her husband and two sons.
