Our name originates from the Periodic Table of the Elements. Fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine, astatine, and ununseptium comprise group 17, an elemental category known as the halogens – a unique group for three reasons:
- First, halogens are reactive. They connect. In order for the halogens to exist naturally, they must connect with additional elements. This makes them stable and stronger and gives them purpose.
- Second, halogens are diverse; it’s the only category where elements can exhibit all three stages of matter … solid, liquid and gas … at room temperature.
- Third, one halogen remains undiscovered. Ununseptium exists in theory and has yet to be found and fully utilized.
So what do these elements have to do with our mission? Everything.
