Halogen TV is proud to present a lineup of new shows headlined by the world premiere of “Invisible Children” on Sunday, April 4. “Extreme Dreams,” “Short Sighted” and “Noble Exchange” roll out over the first two weeks in April.
In the spring of 2003, three young Americans traveled to Africa and created films that expose the effects of a 20-year-long war on the children of northern Uganda. These children live in fear of abduction by rebel soldiers, and are being forced to fight as part of a violent army. The overwhelming response has been, “How can I help?” To answer this question, the non-profit Invisible Children, Inc. was created, giving compassionate and inspired youth an effective way to respond to the situation. And for the first time on TV, this material has been created into a series of special features exclusively on Halogen TV. Watch the premiere on Sunday, April 4, 8pm ET.
“Extreme Dreams” gives five deserving people the chance to realize their dreams and conquer some of the world’s most extreme environments as they embark on a voyage of personal discovery. Harsh conditions push them to their limits on this journey of a lifetime. As they trek across ice-covered peaks, descend thousands of feet into scorching hot valleys and endure the wilderness, their lives will change forever–that is, if they can make it to the end. Watch the premiere on Monday, April 5, 9pm ET.
“Short Sighted” celebrates the underappreciated medium of short films. Between scripted, documentary and animated films highlighted each week, host Jason Yachanin visits off-the-beaten-path establishments and interviews their owners, as well as writers, directors, distributors, actors and other professionals from the filmmaking field. Watch the premiere on Wednesday, April 21, 8pm ET.
Instead of another tale about what the West can offer Africa, “Noble Exchange: Africa” focuses on what it has to offer us. As our world becomes more connected and increasingly complex, the creativity, verve and resilience of Africans have much to teach those outside their borders. Each episode takes two related issues Americans face and discovers ways the African culture deals with them. Watch the premiere on Tuesday, April 27, 9:30pm ET.
Join Tom Mullikin and his team as they travel around the globe to examine the issues related to a changing global environment. From the ice shelves of Antarctica to the dunes of the Namib desert of Namibia, Africa; from the rain forests of the great Amazon to the Great Barrier Reefs of Australia. Watch the premiere on Saturday, April 10, 10pm ET.
